East Dallas, Texas

Meet Shadow & Jack, an extraordinarily loving mother and son dog duo with big personalities...

We found these two at the end of February in East Dallas and have been searching for their owner to no avail. Shadow had a long, rusty wire cable tied tightly around her neck and Jack's left eye was swollen, irritated and discolored. Both were very thin, filthy, not fixed and had apparently been on the run for a while.

After a visit to the vet, we found out that Jack's eyelashes were growing toward his eyeball rather than away, causing the painful issue with his eye. This poor little guy also had un-descended testicles, a problem which can be fatal if not surgically corrected. While Shadow is a mother, the vet told us that she sadly had puppies when she was only a year old and is in many ways, still a puppy herself. Throughout their first visit to the vet and those that consequently followed, they were complete troopers with great manners. Nearly $2,500 later, both dogs are fixed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and currently on heart worm and flea preventatives. Jack's eyelid also got flipped the other way so now his lashes are growing correctly.

While we cherish Shadow and Jack and have grown very close to them over the past several months, one of our family members has recently been diagnosed with a serious cancer and will need a bone marrow transplant. Needless to say, we won't be home much in the oncoming months and can't justify keeping these two inside all day. Though they are happy enough together, they adore and need human interaction, which is more than we can give them at this time.

Though large in size, they are both wonderful with children and very gentle, extremely loving creatures. We've even worked with a trainer for five sessions on positive treat training. They are crate trained, potty trained and eager to please. They enjoy being indoors and outdoors, fetching balls, licking treats out of their kong, and long afternoon naps! Due to their immense love for each other, we would like to see them both go to the same home.

Please look at each of their bios on the pages above for an in depth look at this unique team. And please pass this link along to any one you may know who is looking for two outstanding family members. Thank you!
