Moon
We adopted Moon in December 2001. He had some adjustments to make to us and especially to our Husky puppy, Sascha. Moon had been crated as a puppy. He had to learn how to play with people, dog, and TOYS! He still doesn't like crates. He looks after his non adopted sister Sascha (left) and is a very good big brother to her. After a few initial rocky moments, we all live in harmony now, and Moon (right) is a very happy dog.
He loves squeaky balls. He chases them with great gusto, and then promptly tries to eat them! He doesn't think "fetch" is a very exciting game; he would rather chase the ball on his own and then chew it until it no longer squeaks. Moon loves to have his belly rubbed. He will instantly roll over for belly rubs as soon as you begin to pet him. He is a very loving dog.
Moon has become an accomplished pickpocket. He stole gloves from my coat pocket while I was wearing the coat, and I didn't even notice! Then he and Sascha played tug-of-war with my gloves.
The neighborhood boys love to come play with Moon and Sascha. The dogs enjoy playing with them, too. They know every child in a three-block radius of our house! They also enjoy playing chase with each other through the house. We all just stand back and make room when they start chasing each other.
We have enrolled Moon in obedience class, and he has responded very well. He usually starts the whole class howling as his first order of business. When he's done with the fun, he gets down to the serious business. He just may be at the top of his class!
Moon has gained some weight since he's been with us, and he has finally realized that he is here to stay. He now trots with his tail held high and his mouth wide open in a smile. We are all so happy we adopted him, and I know we will be a happy family for a long time to come.
