Alyatki
Alyatki "ALY" joined our family on December 15th. We wanted to find a companion for our red male husky, Tux. We visited three of the greatest foster parents in the world: Laurie, Robert, and Jody. Steve brought Nikki to our house to introduce to Tux. It's always interesting to see how the chemistry will work out.
When we met Aly (formerly Lucy) I knew she was very special. Sweet, playful, observant, and eager to do what I asked. She came equipped with good manners: house broken, functional hearing, and not prone to chewing on stuff that isn't hers. Some digging, but that seems like a response to stress more than anything else. I worried because Tux is not inclined to escape. He seems to realize he has it pretty good around here. Aly is intensely curious/intelligent, and she will escape at the drop of a hat. So, we have had to adjust to that.
My son Lance and I are crazy about her. She and Tux have been negotiating on who is Top Dog. To my surprise, it looks like Aly may be emerging as the "lead dog". With time, they have settled in, although I still have to monitor food and toys. The Adopt a Husky people, especially Peggy, have supported me all the way. They want what is best for the dogs. That means we can relax, and do the best we can, even if it isn't in the stars for the dogs to bond.
