Here is some general information about our organization and the adoption process:

We do not have a shelter where all the huskies are in one location. All of our huskies are fostered in private homes in and around the Dallas area.

Process

Our process for meeting the huskies for adoption is as follows:

If you're interested in meeting the dogs, please complete a Pre-Adoption/Foster application.

Waiting for approval:

We will try to contact you within 48 hours. Once your application has been approved, arrangements will be made for you and your family and your other pets to visit the huskies in their foster homes.

Meeting the dog:

If we do find a match for you, then upon completion of our Contract and Foster Contract, you may take the husky home for a trial adoption period (as an intent to adopt), usually for the weekend or up to no longer than 7 days. Payment for the adoption must be made before a trial with the dog begins.

If for any reason the trial does not work out and the dog is returned to AHDI during the trial period, your payment will be returned.

Finalization

When you have made the decision to finalize the adoption, the Adoption Contract will be processed and you will receive all of the vet records for the dog. The adoption fee includes all shots, spay and/or neuter, heart worm test, and treatment if required, plus micro chip. All fees are considered donations and are tax deductible. Partial payments and/or payment plans are not acceptable.

Adoption fees are not refundable if you want to return the dog once the adoption is finalized.

Returning dogs

AHDI is committed to our huskies for life. If you are unable to care for the dog, or must give the dog up for any reason after you have adopted, the dog must be returned to AHDI. This is included in the Adoption Contract.
