Sahara
We are extremely grateful to the people that make up Adopt a Husky of Dallas.
We made the trip down to Dallas (from Norman, OK) to find a companion for our 3 year old husky Chinook.
Not only did we find a life-long buddy for Chinook in Sahara, but we also got a very loving, cute,
and well-behaved dog. Sahara gets along with our cats perfectly.
We couldn't be more happy with Sahara.
Thanks!

Timber
My father, Larry Gauthier, adopted Timber about a month ago. He wanted a Siberian Husky after
we lost one of our own about five years ago. He has been stuck on the breed
since, and after all the kids moved out he actually wanted a dog of his own.
I was sent the website by my sister-in-law because Timber needed to find a
home fast. I sent the website to my father and he fell in love with him. We
drove down there and my dad spent time with him, and I could
tell they bonded.
We were warned that he might not get along with the cat my mom owned, and he
might be a little hyper. So my father brought him home and after
a month he is
one of the best dogs I have ever been around. I love the breed but of all
the Siberians that I have been around Timber is the calmest and
smartest I have
ever seen. He has a personality that is out of this world and he
is definatly
my dads dog. Within a week he learned how to sit and speak at command, and
he is learning to get along with the cat. They can actually lay in the same
room together and are fine around each other. I have never seen my dad like
this around a dog, and it is wonderful. He is truly his best
friend. I know he
is glad he made the decision to bring Timber into his life, and I am grateful
that he was able to adopt him. He has already gained weight, and found a new
vet to look after his leg that was broken by the bus. He has
blessed our lives

Cody
Cody passed away peacefully April 22, 2005 with his people at his side.
We
adopted Cody as a special needs dog from AHDI in October, 2003.
Although
our vet told us he might only be with us 3-6 months, love and will kept
him
in our lives for over 18. He clearly enjoyed country living. His
favorite
activities were working on his lap dog skills, playing with our other
Husky
Sasha, riding in the golf cart and walks down to the lake. Only he
knew why
he would pull our arms out of socket to jump in the lake but would not
set
foot in the pool. We guess that was his contribution to the Husky
Mystery.
Although we are profoundly sad he is no longer with us, we will cherish
the
memories of our time together and the love we shared.

Cosmo
We lost our husky and three high school girls together and found Cosmo on the husky web site.
They talked to my husband and brought Cosmo over one night and surprised me. We have had Cosmo for
over two years and love him dearly. Thanks Adopt a Husky of Dallas for all your good work.

Sampson
When we lost our beloved five year old husky / coyote mix girl Aspen our five year old husky / wolf
boy Dawson became very depressed. He was the omega and lost without Aspen. He started to lose
weight and would stress out so much he busted blood vessels in his eyes.
Our vet advised us he needed a friend, we had a thought about getting another dog but were still mourning Aspen, but
we knew for Dawson's sake we had to get another buddy. So we contacted Adopt a Husky of Dallas and chose a few dogs to meet Dawson. We knew
he had the final say in his new buddy. Right away when Dawson and Sampson met, we knew they were meant to be together.
They are joined at the hip. You can not separate them now. We never had problems with them bonding. Sampson was a wonderful addition to our
home. He fits us perfectly. We love him so much and can not imagine like without him.
He is omega and all husky, very playful and he thinks he is a lap dog although he's 58 pounds.

I have two siblings that walk on two legs, Richie and Ginny.
They are twins, and they love to take me on runs around the
neighborhood. I have to stay on a leash, though, because
that natural husky desire to go exploring still runs pretty
deep. I’m a fixture at their soccer and baseball games. I also
have two four-legged siblings - Sabrina, a shepherd mix who just
turned 14, and Roadie, another rescue dog who’ll be 12 in July.
We fought a little when I first arrived, but we quickly learned
to love and play with each other. My parents say I’ve brought
new life to the "other puppies". I’ve enclosed our Christmas
photo.
Speaking of my parents, they’re pretty neat. They’ve had
huskies before, so they understand me, even though my dad calls
me "Cybil" and "Goofy" at times. He’s definitely the Alpha of
the house, but he can’t resist rubbing my tummy. Mom takes me
for runs and plays with me during the day when my siblings are
tired. I’ve got a run of the house, and while I’ve got a bed
pillow on the floor in their room I sometimes pick a bed to
sleep in - even theirs! I’m a pampered house dog, but I’ve also
been known to sleep in my cabana when it’s a little cool outside
(see the photo). I’ve been known to stand on it, too, and like
most girls I talk a lot, but I’ve yet to let loose a good howl
yet. My folks say I’ve got the most personality of any dog
they’ve ever seen, and it all comes naturally - really, now,
everyone sleeps on their back, don’t they?
The reunion in Lewisville this summer was really cool.
A bunch of people came up to my parents and told them stories
about me - how embarrassing! I also got special recognition
from the nice lady with the microphone when I put my front paws
in a water bucket to cool off. Mostly it was just fun to see a
bunch of smiling, happy faces of other huskies like me, and to
see those incredible people who took care of me before I was
adopted.
Thanks to you, AHDI, I have a family that loves me and that
I love with all my heart.
Love, Mickey
Mickey
