Lucy

It’s been a little over a year since we’ve brought Lucy in, and it is (Way past!) time we updated you guys.

Even though she had a bit of a rocky start with Tucker, they get along pretty well now. They still have their moments. ;) But we’ve meshed quite well, if I do say so myself. She’s definitely put on a few more pounds, and her coat has become just stunning. As an added bonus, she no longer keeps her ears back all the time! She used to walk around looking scared or intimidated, and now she’s inquisitive, loving, and just sweet as candy. I love to see such good progress in a dog. She’s my pretty little girl.

We just couldn’t imagine our lives without her. She’s been such a wonderful addition, and it’s been a great joy to see her real personality come out and shine. Every day I feel so grateful that not only do I have one fuzzy baby, but I have TWO fuzzy babies to love. Well…maybe not EVERY day…we have had to replace quite a bit of carpet…and the couch is now a different color but I still wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Thank you all so much for what you do!!

Sincerely,

Nick and Kiesha Messina (And Tucker and Lucy too!)

Shelby

I saw the request for success stories so wanted to write you about Shelby. I want people to know that sometimes one has to work with a new pup in the house, but that it can and does pay off. We welcomed Shelby, then Yala, into our home several months ago. I'd wanted a companion for Maddox, my then four-month-old, as he was wearing out my two Springers. I'd hoped for a nice, docile, submissive girl... And got Shelby. There have been some ups and downs settling Shelby into our home. I constantly asked advice from knowledgeable husky owning friends about her. From time to time I worried I'd made a mistake, but the way she'd look at me, and played so well with Maddox, convinced me to keep trying. It was a weekend spent at the vet boarding while I was out of town that convinced Shelby she really was in her forever home, and it was time to start behaving like a member of the family. Ever since I showed up after four nights of boarding her and Maddox, she has been a dream! She no longer fights with my female springer over the silly things, and she has a great, loving attitude. Though she has her quirks (don't touch her feet unless she knows you're going to! And never ever hum to her!) she is a wonderful companion, very expressive and silly. She's also put on about seven pounds since she joined us, and her red fur is absolutely beautiful. At times I wanted to throw my hands up but the sweet kisses she gives me now, and the endless 'conversations' we have, make up for all the hard work she was at first. We are very happy with Shelby in our home, and Maddox adores her! And...my Springers suppose she is okay too. Whew! Frankie

Thank you so much for everything. You can't even tell that Frankie has ever not been in a loving home. Him and Riley played last night till I made them stop and go to bed about 11. So far it doesn't seem that Frankie is having a hard time adjusting at all. He is such a sweet dog and minds very will, much better than my little beast. He learned how to use the doggie door instantly and slept all night in his new crate without a sound. I hope all is well with both of you today and I will send you updates. Here is a very happy picture of Frankie when I got him here last night.

Dallas

I just wanted to give you an update on Saber (we have renamed him Dallas). I know we have only had Dallas for 5 weeks but we love him soooo much. He is the best dog. When we got him home I was afraid he would pee in my house to mark his territory, but I showed him how to used the doggie door and he has not had any accidents in the house at all. We took him to have him neutered and everything went fine. From the time we got Dallas home he has been such a loveable guy. The first evening when we went to bed Nikki jumped up on the bed to sleep and so did Dallas. He has been the best dog, I keep telling my husband that we are so lucky to have gotten him because his is so sweet and lovable. My other husky (Nikki) is 11 years old and her and Dallas play together great. She wears out a lot sooner than he does, but she gives him her best. When I come home from work both dogs jump up on my bed and serenade me. Dallas even starts howling. One day my neighbor asked my husband, what is going on in there? Do you have a pack of wolves in there? Both dogs are very talkative and when one starts it just gets the other one started. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be Dallas' family, he has blessed our home. I cannot imagine life without him, he stole our hearts from the first day. I have included a couple of pictures. Dallas is on the left and Nikki is on the right. If people only knew the love these dogs give we wouldn't have so many huskies needing adoption.

Thanks again!, Lisa Whitaker

Jags

I wanted to share these pics we took of Jags (right) and his best friend, Nico (left). As you can see, Jags has made himself right at home with us. He greets us every morning with a "Hello" howl and lots of kisses. He and Nico are best buddies and play nonstop(their favorite places for playtime have turned out to be our bed and our couch). He's even getting along with our older dog, Bailey, who we were most concerned about. We love having 2 huskies and are always entertained as we watch them interact with each other as only two huskies can do. Jags is such an incredible dog that it is hard to believe he was a rescue in the first place. We are so happy to have him in our family.

Thanks, Jennifer Arie

Maven

Hello! My husband and I adopted Miss Rav’n Maven from Adopt a Husky of Dallas just over a month ago. Maven was with her foster family for several months and just thrived in their loving environment. We love having Maven as a part of our household and she is part of the family. Everyone at Adopt a Husky was friendly and made the adoption process seamless. Maven has brought such joy into our lives. She is happy in her new home and enjoys going to the dog park and taking long walks with her family. We visit the dog parks on the weekends and she just loves to chase the other dogs around and see what kind of mischief she can get into. She can tell time quite well too! She knows in the morning that when “Dad” is getting ready that it is about time to go for a walk and she starts talking the usual Husky talk until he takes her for her morning walk. In addition, she knows when it is 3:15 because it is time to go pick up her “brother” from school. She starts sitting by the garage door and starts talking to me to let me know it is time to go! She, of course, does the same thing at night when it is time to go for her evening walk! There is no getting around it! We just want everyone to know that we appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication to saving these Huskies lives and we are grateful we found a new member of our family!
